Compositional Elements Self-reflection / gallery walk

Now that we have completed our Compositional Elements unit, and have practiced applying all six elements to our images, it is time to look back and reflect on your progress. Today we will get the chance to look at your peers' work in our virtual “Gallery Walk.” This time around we are going to add in a self-reflection aspect to your assigned slides. There are two parts to this “Gallery Walk,” the first part is commenting on your peers’ work and the second portion is your reflection on your project.

Additionally, you will find a rubric attached to your assignment in Google Classroom. Circle or highlight the rated sections ranging from 1-3 that you believe you achieved for each area of focus. Be honest on your rubric, in the long run you will be helping yourself get better at your medium! (earn up to 10 points)



Directions: Commenting on Other Images

  • Look through the slides and comment on three images

  • After each of your comments please sign your first and last initial 

    • You will receive 2 points for every comment 

  • In your comment you can speak on something that you like/find interesting, which compositional elements you see, principles of design, or any elements of art you see in the image

  • Any negative comments will result in deduction of points

Directions: Self Reflection

On your second slide, answer the following two questions. Your answers must be a minimum of five sentences. (earn up to 2 points per question)

  1. Which was the easiest element to photograph and why? Which was the most difficult to photograph and why?

  2. How has this project helped you grow as a photographer? Do you feel that you are more cognizant of how you are framing your subjects? Explain how for each question.

Now that you have finished your second creative photoshoot, it is time to take a moment and reflect on your project. In a Google Doc, you will need place your favorite and least favorite image in the same document that you record your responses. PLEASE TURN IN AS A PDF. Please format your document with your name and class period in the top right corner and the name of your project centered as the title. Place your favorite image and least favorite image side by side directly below the title. Underneath your images begin your self reflection. To complete your reflection by answering the questions below.

  1. Write a brief summary of your Falloween project. What is it about? What was the inspiration?

  2. Why did you choose this as your favorite image from the project? What did you do well?

  3. Why did you choose this as your least favorite image? Is there anything you would’ve done differently for this image?

  4. How did you feel about the gallery walk? What comments did you receive from your peers? Where they helpful?

  5. Did you enjoy this project? Why or why not?
