Final extra credit opportunity: Ms. Laduca’s yearbook
(5 extra credit points)
Over the summer I have given myself the project to create a Photography yearbook of all of your photoshoots from the year! This year has been a particularly challenging year for us, yet all of you found your artistic voice to create beautiful images. I am beyond proud of the work that you all put into this class, and so should you! If you would like, I would be so grateful if you would write a quick message that I can include in my personal Photography yearbook!
In a Google Doc, please type out a short message for me. If can be about your favorite project, what you learned, or what ever you would like! Additionally, please include a favorite image (does NOT need to be from one of our projects this year) and a self portrait. You do not need to create a new self portrait if you have one that you already like!
How to turn in your message
Please submit a Google Doc or PDF of your typed up message
Submit your images as SEPARATE .jpg files
Thank you all for a wonderful year of photography!

SPOT HEALING BRUSH AND CLONE TOOL ASSIGNMENT
3º due: thursday 5/6, 4º due: friday 5/7
(10 POINTS)
The Spot Healing Brush allows you to fix the dust, scratches and schmoo marks on your photo. This tool paints matching texture, lighting, transparency, and shading to the pixels being healed. Unlike the clone stamp tool, it doesn’t require you to specify a sample spot — it automatically samples from around the retouched area. This tool is easier, but less precise in small or tricky areas of your image.
The Clone Tool also allows you to fix the dust, scratches and schmoo marks on your photos. It allows you to copy texture, lighting and tonal values from one area of your image onto another area of your image. With the clone tool, you pick the sample spot that you want to copy, then paste it into another area of your image.
Do these tools work on every “issue” on every photo, every time? Of course not. Does it work often enough to save you hours of work? Yes!
Here’s the assignment, designed to help you learn to use these tools.
Step #1 Scroll down to the bottom of this page and watch the brief videos that demonstrate how to use the spot healing brush tool.
Step #2 Use a photo that you’ve shot -one that has flaws, such as scratches, dust or dreaded schmoo marks… or USE THIS LINK or THIS LINK to download a photo to use for this exercise.
Step #3 Using either the healing brush tool, clone tool, or a combination both, repair all the blemishes on your image.
Step #4 Give your repaired image a new name.
Step #5 Place both “before” and “after” images onto one Photoshop or Pixlr background. The sample on this assignment is a 4x9 inch document
•color the background of the document.
•write “Before” and “After” above or on each image.
Step #6 Write your name, Healing Brush and period # at the top of the document.
Step #7 –Save your image as healing_yourinitials.jpg
Pixlr has the same tools can be found on the left side tool bar. They work the same but are titled differently.
